Chinese national held at India-Nepal border | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Security agencies detained a Chinese national at the Rupaidiha checkpost along the India–Nepal border on Monday evening after he was found filming sensitive sites inside Indian territory and attempting to enter the country without valid travel documents. The arrest triggered heightened alert across border-security units. According to officials, SI Ratnesh Yadav of the Sashastra Seema Bal’s (SSB) 42nd Battalion and Rupaidiha SHO Ramesh Rawat were conducting routine surveillance when they intercepted a foreign man wandering inside the Indian side of the border. During questioning, he identified himself as Liu Kunjing, a resident of Hunan Province, China. A search of his belongings led to the recovery of three mobile phones, along with Chinese, Nepali, and Pakistani currency. Crucially, he had no valid Indian visa. When one of the seized phones was examined, security personnel discovered multiple videos of sensitive locations in the Indian border region, raising suspicion of reconnaissance activity. Officials described the discovery as “alarming” and immediately tightened surveillance along the crossing point. SSB Commandant Ganga Singh Udawat confirmed that the accused was apprehended while allegedly recording videos of restricted areas within Indian territory. “He had no legal documents permitting entry into India,” he said. The Chinese national has been handed over to Rupaidiha Police.
