Lucknow: The sarrafa market experienced a dip in gold and silver sales volumes this Dhanteras compared to last year, largely due to the surge in precious metal prices. However, the overall sales value saw a notable increase, underscoring the enduring demand for these precious commodities.According to Lucknow Sarrafa Market Association, about 42kg gold worth Rs 55 crore and 850kg silver costing Rs 14 crore were sold from jewellery stores across the city by 9.30 pm.Adesh Jain, senior vice-president, Lucknow Sarrafa Market, said the rate of 10gm gold on Saturday was Rs 1.32 lakh and one kg silver Rs 1.71 lakh. In comparison, he said, the price last year on Dhanteras was Rs 81,900 per 10gm gold and Rs 1.01 lakh per one kg silver.
