BJP Kisan Morcha dist chief resigns over fertiliser crisis in Bahriach | Lucknow News
Bahraich: BJP Kisan Morcha president of Bahraich Jitendra Pratap Singh Jeetu resigned from all party posts on Friday over the alleged crisis of fertiliser in the district.“Today farmers are wandering from place to place in search of fertiliser. Despite holding a position in the ruling party’s Kisan Morcha, I am unable to help them. Farmers are facing police lathi-charge while the govt remains indifferent. Unable to fulfill my moral responsibility, I am resigning from the BJP,” said Jitendra. Meanwhile, tension gripped the Kaiserganj area after a massive crowd gathered for urea distribution at the Badrauli Cooperative Society. Chaos broke out, leading to clashes in which several people sustained serious injuries. Local villagers alleged that the biggest failure was distributing fertiliser to such a large crowd without adequate police deployment. Meanwhile, a group of Samajwadi Party workers also staged protests over the crisis. They alleged that large crowds of farmers, including women and men, are waiting in long queues across purchase centres for hours but still failing to get fertilisers. On Thursday, agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi claimed that Shrawasti district agriculture officer Ashok Prasad Mishra wad suspended for negligence in duty. The minister added that earlier too, action had been taken against Sitapur district agriculture officer Manjeet Kumar Singh and Balrampur district agriculture officer Prakash Chandra Vishwakarma on similar grounds. The minister, however, reiterated that there is no shortage of fertiliser in any district.
