Biometric attendance for NER’s Lucknow Div TTEs

Lucknow: Following the Railway Board directives, the Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway has successfully rolled out a biometric attendance system for its ticket checking staff. This marks a shift from traditional manual registers to a fully digital attendance system, aimed at enhancing transparency and operational efficiency. The new system has been deployed across all six TTE lobbies in the division—Gorakhpur, Lucknow Junction, Aishbagh Junction, Gomtinagar, Gonda Junction and Sitapur Junction. Ticket examiners are now required to record their biometric attendance at the beginning and end of each shift. This ensures accurate tracking of duty hours, rest periods and strict adherence to the Hours of Employment Regulations (HOER). “Previously, attendance was logged manually, a method often plagued by errors and inconsistencies. The biometric system eliminates these issues by providing real-time attendance data, which is accessible online for easy verification. This not only streamlines the process but also reinforces staff accountability and punctuality,” said a spokesperson of NER Lucknow Division. He added: “By embracing a paperless approach, the Lucknow Division is setting a benchmark in railway operations. The initiative saves time, reduces administrative burden, and fosters a culture of discipline among the ticket checking staff.”
