Lucknow: The UP Assembly proceedings on Tuesday witnessed an acrimonious moment when Jalshakti minister Swatantra Deo Singh, while responding to a question, asked SP MLA Faheen Irfan to swear by his wife’s name.“Faheem Tum Apni Biwi ki Kasam Khao Ki Tumhari Vidhan Sabha Mein Maam Poora Nahin Ho Gaya Hai (Swear by your wife if the work in your constituency has not been completed),” the Jalshakti minister said. He was responding to the Bilari (Moradabad) MLA’s accusation that the Jalshakti department’s claim of constructing around 1.93 lakh km of road out of 1.96 lakh km was devoid of facts. “I challenge the minister to just name one district where the work has been completed and if he is able to do so, I would resign from the House membership immediately,” Faheem said. The strange challenge left SP members enraged. Realizing that the discussion was going too far, the minister toned down and promised to take action against the company which has claimed that 98% of the work was completed.
