Akhilesh slams BJP govt over ‘flawed’ GST implementation

Kanpur: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday hit out at the BJP govt over multiple issues, including ‘flawed’ implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), high taxes, inflation, unemployment, and the state of education and healthcare services.Speaking to the media in Kannauj, the former chief minister said, “Due to faulty GST, inflation increased significantly. Eventually, the govt acknowledged its shortcomings, but only after businesses and traders had been ruined. The govt should explain on whose advice the decision to impose GST was taken.” He added that public resentment against the BJP is growing because of rising inflation and unemployment, while education and healthcare have also suffered. Yadav further alleged that the BJP made false promises to people. “Farmers’ incomes have not doubled. Electricity is expensive. Education and healthcare are costly. Inflation under the BJP has troubled the poor, farmers, and the middle class,” he said. He also criticised the Centre’s foreign policy. On the opposition’s allegations of vote theft, Yadav said, “Action should be taken against officials involved in such practices. The Election Commission must act against them.”
