Lucknow: There was a burst of colour as 19th National Jamboree hosted its cultural pageant show, with scouts from across India and Asia South Pacific region presenting traditional attires and historic themes.From UP’s Chauri Chaura Kakori Train Action reenactment to depiction of Mahakumbh, the stage reflected the state’s cultural legacy. Jhankis (tableaux) representing Chhath Puja, Navratri and Durga Puja came alive with symbolic ‘soop’and ‘diya’ sequences and swirling ghagras. Maharashtra’s Lavani-inspired costumes, Goa’s Kunbi sarees, Rajasthan’s royal turbans, Punjab’s phulkari and West Bengal’s festival motifs added depth to the pageant.UP finance minister Suresh Khanna said, “The way children showcased India’s culture, freedom struggle, and spiritual traditions with discipline and beauty is commendable, their enthusiasm symboling a bright future.”Students from Nepal, Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia showcased traditional motifs, enriching the spirit of global friendship. Punjab student Manjeet Singh said, “It took me 45 minutes to tie this turban. My father taught me the style and wearing it here feels like bringing my home to the Jamboree.” Constitution-themed presentation by UP contingent left the audience captivated. “Our costume was hand-painted by our troop. It took two days, but it was worth it because it tells the story of our rights and duties,” said Scout Kavya Pal from Lucknow. Participants from Tripura, dressed in risa and rigwanai, displayed grace of their tribal heritage. “We practised for weeks and when the crowd cheered, it felt like our culture had truly reached the Jamboree,” said Ridhima Debbarma from Tripura. The event stood out for its disciplined choreography and emotional depth with which each contingent portrayed their state’s art, traditions, and cultural identity. Spectators experienced India’s vast diversity in a single show, woven together with precision and passion. A major attraction of the event is the security and technology exhibition organized by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Here, young participants were introduced to crime-prevention technologies, firefighting methods, and the functioning of commando and anti-terror squads. This experience gave them a deeper insight into modern security systems. The state’s focus on women’s empowerment and youth-friendly policies also came to the fore through Mission Shakti sessions that covered self-defence, cybersecurity, legal awareness, and the role of women’s help desks in police stations.Together, these efforts underscored Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to ensuring women’s safety.
