Lucknow: BSP is relying on the faith the followers of Kanshiram have in him and his ideology to make the rally on Oct 9 in Lucknow a big event. Instead of organising separate programmes in districts to pay tribute to the Dalit icon and the founder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), party president Mayawati has appealed to all the followers of Kanshi Ram to congregate in Lucknow.BSP workers will put up a collective show of strength for the party, which has taken up a massive organisational overhaul in the state by appointing new office-bearers at every level of the hierarchy since March this year. The rally will also help the party brass assess the loopholes.BSP state president Vishwanath Pal said that crores of people had faith in Kanshi Ram ji and the event on his Parinirvan Diwas (death anniversary) would be a huge affair.After Mayawati asked partymen to take preparations for the upcoming rally as the topmost priority, mobilisation of the cadre has started at the ground level to disseminate information about the event. “It will be after around 10 years that the supporters of Kanshi Ram will get to pay tribute to him at the memorial built during the BSP govt. The memorial was under renovation for many years,” said BSP’s state president. “We used to pay tributes to his picture outside the memorial rather than his statue inside,” he said. “This is also one reason why his followers and supporters are excited to come to Lucknow on the day,” Pal said.
