Lucknow: The five-day ‘Rang-e-Aawargi’ festival at Sangeet Natak Akademi once again captivated the audience with an evening of powerful storytelling and theatre on Friday. The stage came alive with the soulful dastangoi of Himanshu Bajpai and a play ‘Aadhi Roti Poora Chaand’, directed by theatre artist Randhir Kumar and presented by Rupantar Natya Manch.Bajpai’s, ‘Kissagoi aur Dastangoi’ got the audience into the wavelengths of folklore, history, and Sufi thought. His most stirring moment came while narrating the life and sacrifice of revolutionary Ram Prasad Bismil, weaving his poetry with the spirit of India’s freedom struggle.Later, the play juxtaposed hunger and inequality with love and hope, centering on the poignant relationship between writer Amrita Pritam and Imroz. The evening concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where Aparnesh Mishra honored Himanshu Bajpai and the Rupantar team for their artistic contributions.Another play- ‘Do Aadmi Do Kursiyan’ and a grand mushaira will be staged on Saturday, Sept 6.
