Rajnath invited for martial arts event | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Hundreds of athletes from across the country will take part in the 14th national Vovinam Martial Arts championship to be held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, from September 8 to 11.Praveen Garg, national president of the Vovinam Association said the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been formally invited to be the chief guest of the event. During the four-day competition, the best performers will be shortlisted to represent India at the 8th World Vovinam Martial Arts Championship, scheduled to take place in Bali, Indonesia, from November 1 to 8. Around 700 players, aged between 6 and 35 years, from 27 states are expected to compete across 56 weight categories, covering both combat fights and performance-based events in kids, sub-junior, junior, and senior divisions. Ahead of the championship, the special annual general meeting and executive committee elections of the Vovinam Association will also be held. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh state team selection trials are scheduled for Sept 5.
