80 med colleges to boost public health capacity

Lucknow: The ‘One Health’ approach is no longer optional, as the pandemic proved how closely human, animal and environmental health are linked. Covid-19 showed how quickly a crisis can cross borders and why preparedness, coordination and strong data matter. This was highlighted by additional chief secretary, medical health and family welfare, Amit Kumar Ghosh, while addressing the 28th Annual International Conference of the Indian Association of Preventive & Social Medicine (IAPSM) at Integral University on Saturday.“UP now has nearly 80 medical colleges, which gives the state significant public health capacity, but real progress still requires collective effort,” he said. Over 300 delegates, including health experts, faculty members, doctors and officials, attended the conference. TNN
