3K Balvatikas to be functional from Aug 15

Lucknow: In a step to improve early education, over 3,000 newly established Balvatikas will become fully functional across the state on Aug 15. The inaugural events will coincide with Independence Day celebrations, where public representatives, officials, and parents will join to encourage children. Programmes will highlight the importance of early learning, its benefits, and key government initiatives. Basic education minister Sandeep Singh said, “Balvatikas have been designed to ensure children’s holistic development and nutrition so they grow into strong, confident, and responsible citizens.” Director general, school education, Kanchan Verma, said, “The basic education department has ensured all necessary facilities for the holistic development of children. This includes activity-based kits (Wonder Box), learning corners, outdoor play equipment, child-friendly furniture, and stationery.” She added that ECCE teachers, shiksha mitras, and Anganwadi workers have been given special training to make children aged 3 to 6 “school ready” while paying full attention to their nutrition.
