Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh currently has 18.55 lakh Lakhpati Didis, a figure which govt hopes to double in the coming months.During a meeting to discuss means to accelerate the economic empowerment of women and the development of self-help groups (SHGs) to ensure more sustainable income generation for their members, chief secretary SP Goyal directed departments concerned to prioritise women in their schemes to help more females earn Rs 1 lakh monthly.He directed the department of horticulture and food processing to distribute solar-powered food processing units such as solar flour mills, spice grinding machines, dryers, deep freezers to SHGs. He said that sales centres of SHGs should be established at all airports in the state.Mission director, UP SRLM, Deepa Ranjan said 35.94 lakh women were identified in the state, of which income details of 29.68 lakh women were recorded in the Digital Livelihood Register.
