3 murders in capital in 24 hrs depict lawlessness in UP: Akhilesh | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said that three murders in the state capital within 24 hours were an indicator of lawless situation in other parts of the state. He said the BJP govt’s claims of zero tolerance towards crime have turned out to be hollow. “In Madiaon, an old man was shot dead in his house. A recovery agent was murdered in Banthra and a young man was murdered and his body dumped in a drain from where it was recovered – all this happened within 24. If this is the situation in Lucknow, one can imagine the situation in the rest of the state,” Akhilesh said. Akhilesh said it was not only about lawlessness alone. The govt has miserably failed to fulfil any of the promises it had made to the people before the elections. “Joblessness is rampant. Rising prices of essential commodities have added to the worries of the middle-class and the poor who were already finding it difficult to make the two ends meet,” he said. The SP chief cited media reports on how senior doctors and professors at King George Medical University were quitting their job. “Such developments are not common and reflect the level to which the govt has failed to deliver,” he said, adding: “This, when there is already an acute shortage of professors, doctors and paramedics as government medical facilities,” he said.“The level of injustice prevailing in the state under BJP has left the people dejected. People have lost hope in the BJP govt and the voters in the state are waiting to replace it in 2027 assembly polls,” Akhilesh said. ‘Man’s self immolation a bid to wake up govt’Describing the self-immolation incident near SP office in Lucknow as an attempt of a hapless young man to wake up BJP govt from slumber, Akhilesh Yadav urged the state administration to ensure proper medical care of the victim and immediate redressal of his grievances.“Frustrated by the insensitivity of the ruthless BJP govt, a youth has tried to wake up the govt by setting himself ablaze,” Akhilesh said, describing the incident as painful. “BJP govt must ensure the best medical care of the injured youth and provide justice to him. Injustice, hopelessness and disappointment have become the hallmark of the BJP govt,” Akhilesh posted on X. Yogendra alias Bobby had set himself ablaze outside the SP headquarters and was rushed to the Civil Hospital with severe burns. At the hospital he told reporters that he took the drastic step as police were not addressing his grievances.
