20 injured as bus overturns on Agra-Lucknow Expressway | Lucknow News
LUCKNOW: At least 20 passengers were seriously injured and several others sustained minor wounds after a double-decker sleeper bus overturned on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district late on Wednesday night, police said. The bus, carrying around 60 passengers from Agra to Lucknow, collided with a pickup truck loaded with vegetables near Hasanpur in the Hasanganj area, Circle Officer Arvind Kumar told news agency PTI. The impact sent the bus hurtling through the road divider before it plunged into a roadside ditch. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was travelling at high speed at the time of the crash. Local police and ambulance teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information, rescuing passengers by breaking open the windows, officials said. Several women and children were among the injured. Those with minor injuries were treated at the Community Health Centre in Auras, while the seriously hurt were referred to hospitals in Lucknow for specialised care. Police said an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
