Lucknow: The UP govt’s flagship self-employment initiative, the Mukhya Mantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan (MMYUVA), witnessed a surge in participation this financial year, according to official data released on Friday.In just seven months of the 2025-26 financial year, the scheme drew 2,76,824 applications, surpassing its annual target of 1.5 lakh. Of these, 2,26,511 applications were forwarded to banks, and 73,191 loan proposals were already approved. Financial assistance reached 71,918 young entrepreneurs, enabling them to start their own ventures, the spokesperson said.Officials said the scale reflects the govt’s focus on turning job seekers into job creators — a key element of CM Yogi Adityanath’s vision to make UP a one trillion-dollar economy.At the district level, Jaunpur emerged as the state’s top performer, achieving 100% implementation of the scheme. The district met and slightly exceeded its target of 2,250 beneficiaries, disbursing loans to 2,256 applicants within seven months. DM Dinesh Chandra Singh attributed the success to a campaign linking youth with banks, supported by the district lead bank team.Azamgarh secured second position with a 92.67% success rate. Against a target of 2,250 loans, the district received 5,748 applications, forwarded 4,775 to banks, and approved 2,085 loans. DM Ravindra Kumar said intensive outreach and block-level workshops with bankers helped the district climb from 25th place in April to the top bracket.Ambedkarnagar ranked third rank. Kaushambi, Hardoi, Jhansi, Rae bareli, and Bahraich also recorded commendable progress under the scheme.
