Lucknow: In a chilling incident, a 16-year-old girl allegedly bludgeoned her elder brother with an axe while he was asleep after he opposed her relationship with a youth. The incident took place late Saturday night in Pyarepur village under Bachhrawan police station limits, Rae Bareli.The 20-year-old victim lost both his parents earlier and was living for the past 12 years with his grandmother and two younger sisters in Pyarepur. On Saturday night, the grandmother woke up and noticed Himanshu lying in a pool of blood. Police were alerted by neighbours after she rushed to inform them. The youth was taken to the community health centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Harichandpur SHO Adarsh Kumar Singh, SOG in-charge Vijendra Sharma, and a forensic team reached the spot and launched an investigation. “During questioning, suspicion fell on the victim’s 16-year-old sister, who later confessed to the crime. She told police that her brother discovered her relationship with a local youth and repeatedly prevented her from meeting him, even resorting to beating her. Enraged, she attacked him thrice on the neck with an axe while he was asleep,” said the police.After committing the crime around 1.30 am, the accused girl tried to cover up but later woke her grandmother at 3am, claiming “someone had killed” her borther. However, under sustained questioning, she admitted her role. Police have also recovered the murder weapon.A case of murder was registered on the grandmother’s complaint, and the minor was sent to a juvenile home. Police are also investigating whether her alleged lover had any role in the crime. “So far, no evidence has emerged of the lover’s direct involvement. The girl alone executed the murder,” said Pradeep Kumar, CO, Maharajganj.
