Three rly zones announce major 2026 timetable overhaul for UP | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway, and North Central Railway have rolled out a sweeping overhaul of the 2026 working time table, revising timings, improving speeds, and reshaping schedules for more than 100 trains across Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions. The changes, effective from Jan 1, 2026, aim to reduce congestion, enhance punctuality, and improve passenger experience on some of India’s busiest rail corridors.In Northern railway’s Lucknow division, over 25 trains have been speeded up, saving 5 to 20 minutes on major routes. Key beneficiaries include the Prayagraj Sangam–Ayodhya Express (14233), Jalandhar–Amgaon Express (14611), and Kanpur–Varanasi Express (19305), each running 20 minutes faster.
Five Bareilly–Kanpur route services now save 15 minutes, while passenger and short-distance trains such as the 54214 Jaunpur–Prayagraj Passenger and 65117 Varanasi–Prayagraj Passenger save 10–15 minutes. The Ayodhya–Kanpur Vande Bharat (22425) and multiple MEMU services also record minor but crucial improvements.In the North Eastern railway’s Gorakhpur division, timings of over 40 trains have been revised at GKP station, including major long-distance services such as the 12204 Amritsar–Saharsa Express, 11123 Gwalior–Ballia Express, 15113 Chhapra–Gomti Nagar Express, and 12552 Kamakhya–SMVT Bengaluru Express.Originating trains such as 15036, 22531, 12589, 15050, and 15104 now feature adjusted departure schedules to ease platform congestion and improve interchange efficiency during peak hours.Simultaneously, the North Central railway has revised arrival and departure timings across the Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra divisions, introducing shifts ranging from 5 to 70 minutes. In Prayagraj, services like the Sangam Express (14164), Kalindi Express (14118), and Prayagraj–Lalgarh Express (12403/20403) now arrive or depart earlier, while Kanpur’s departures—including the Kanpur–Bandra Express (22443)—have been advanced by 20 minutes.
