NEW DELHI: Fifteen pilgrims were killed and two were seriously injured on Sunday after a tourist bus collided with a stationary trailer in Rajasthan’s Phalodi. The bus was returning from Bikaner.“15 people have lost their lives in a road accident in Phalodi district. Two are injured. The injured persons are undergoing treatment. The affected family have our full support,” Police Commissioner Om Prakash Paswan told news agency PTI.He further said: “A green corridor is being established to quickly transport the injured to a facility where they can receive proper medical treatment. The administration is focused on saving the lives of those injured and will release further details as more information becomes available”.“We have received directions from the Collector and the Commissioner for the preparations. Two patients have come in and both are stable, though with multiple injuries. Both have been taken into the red zone… We have entire team of doctors here,” Mathuradas Mathur Hospital Superintendent Vikas Rajpurohit told ANI.Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.“Saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Phalodi district, Rajasthan. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” PM Modi said.Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma said he instructed the officials to ensure proper treatment for all the injured. “The loss of lives in the road accident in the Matoda area of Phalodi is extremely tragic and heart-rending. My condolences are with the bereaved families. Instructions have been issued to the district administration officials to ensure proper treatment for all the injured. I pray to the Lord to grant peace to the departed souls and to bestow swift recovery upon the injured,” CM Sharma said.
