NCB seizes ganja worth Rs 85 lakh at Charbagh railway station

Lucknow: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Lucknow, seized 50 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 85 lakh in the international illicit market during a major operation at Charbagh Railway Station on Thursday, officials said on Friday.The contraband, concealed in 10 small bags, was recovered from Bhola Sahani and Sudama at platform No. 4 of the Northern Railway terminal. Acting on specific intelligence, NCB teams intercepted the duo and conducted a search, leading to the recovery. Following the seizure, the accused were arrested and a case was registered under Sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Preliminary investigation revealed that the ganja was sourced from Bihar and was being transported to Ludhiana, Punjab. NCB officials said the consignment was allegedly supplied by Pankaj Kumar Sahani, also a resident of Vaishali, Bihar, who was to receive the drugs at Ludhiana for further distribution to the final buyers. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the supplier and identify the wider trafficking network.
