LU convocation medal list out: Girls dominate with 77% wins | Lucknow News
Lucknow: The Lucknow University has announced the medal list for its 68th convocation ceremony, scheduled for Sept 10. Out of 198 medals to be awarded, girls have secured a whopping 153 (77%). On the occasion, the university will confer a total of 1.26 lakh degrees, comprising 1.1 lakh undergraduate, 15,200 postgraduate, 242 diploma degrees, and two certificates.A total of 26 students received multiple medals at Lucknow University, with 5 male students and 21 female students achieving this feat. The standout performer is Shraddha Yadav, a student of MA in Ancient Indian History and Archaeology, who has won an impressive nine medals. Talking to TOI, Shraddha said, “This gold medal is not just my achievement alone — it is the result of the constant love, support, and guidance I have received from so many people. I dedicate this success to my parents, whose sacrifices and encouragement have been my strongest foundation. I am also grateful to my teachers, who shaped my journey. My heartfelt thanks to my friends, who stood by me through every challenge. I also acknowledge my seniors, whose guidance and experiences paved the way for me.”Chitra Sahu, an MA Geography student of Kamla Nehru College, Rae Bareli, secured the second-highest number of medals with eight wins. Meanwhile, Ravi Chand of City College, Lucknow, claimed the third-highest number of individual medals. “I can’t believe that I scored the highest while competing with Lucknow University main campus students and other colleges in the capital city. These medals are a motivation for me to work harder and crack NET JRF to become a professor one day. I dedicate this success to my father, Devishankar Sahu, who runs a small shop, and my mother, Shail Kumari,” said Chitra.LU officials attributed the students’ multiple medal wins to their exceptional academic performance in their respective departments. These departments have various medals for top students in different categories, such as department toppers, high scorers in specific semesters, papers, or faculties.Not just from LU, but students of affiliated colleges in Rae Bareli, Hardoi, and Sitapur also performed well. As many as eight medals were won by MA Geography student Chitra Sahu of Kamla Nehru College, five medals by Astha Srivastava of Pt. Jagannath College, and four medals by Swati Patel of Firoz Gandhi College, all three from Rae Bareli.Similarly, from Hardoi, four medals each were won by Neha Yadav from Raghunandan Singh Mahavidyalaya, Sunaina Pathak from Dr RML College, and Ranjana Devi from Divya Kripal College, Hardoi, and three medals by Shruti Tripathi of Green Field College, Sitapur.
