Lawyer’s true strength not in words, but in silence: Alld HC chief justice | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Arun Bhansali, on Sunday said that a lawyer is often imagined as a creature of speech, forever talking, convincing, and engaging in debate, but after years spent in court, he learned that the true strength of a lawyer, or perhaps a leader, lies not only in words but in silence. Addressing the convocation ceremony of Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National University, Justice Bhansali, who was the guest of honour, said that law was a profession built upon expression. “From your first moot to your last viva, you are taught to speak, argue, persuade, and defend,” he said.“There is a silence that follows a good argument. The finest lawyers are not those who flood a courtroom with sound but those who allow their words to breathe. Persuasion does not come from the length of speech but from the weight of pauses,” he added. TNN
