Lucknow: Participating in opposition’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Chhapra, Siwan and Ara districts of Bihar, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav sought support for INDIA bloc and votes for Tejashwi Yadav and his party candidates in the upcoming Bihar assembly polls. The ‘yatra’ is led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and LoP in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Yadav is also participating in it with an eye on the Bihar assembly polls to be held later this year.“INDIA bloc ‘defeated’ the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha polls. People will once again defeat the BJP in Bihar assembly polls,” Akhilesh said, addressing a public meeting in Ara. “People of the state have faith in Tejashwi Yadav and his party – the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Assembly polls in Bihar will be the first round of renewed fight to protect the right to vote and the Constitution,” he said.“Bihar had earlier stopped BJP’s chariot. Once again people of the state will expose the designs of the BJP, the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the bureaucrats on field,” he said, in an apparent reference to 1990 Rath Yatra of then BJP stalwart LK Advani at the height of the Ram temple movement. Advani’s Rath Yatra was stopped by the then Bihar govt led by Lalu Prasad Yadav. He said the Samajwadi Party would offer all its experience that it gathered during the Lok Sabha polls in UP to help Tejashwi Yadav shunt the BJP out of Bihar for good.“We will cooperate fully with Tejashwi Yadav in the upcoming assembly polls. May he form the next govt and take Bihar on the path to progress,” Akhilesh said. “In 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP was defeated in Awadh (UP). It is now time to drive them out of Magadh (Bihar),” Akhilesh said. The SP chief recalled how Tejashwi was focused on ensuring jobs for Bihar’s youth, which would put an end to forced migration. “Let him win the assembly polls and it would be the turn of the BJP to migrate from the state,” Akhilesh said.In a jibe at recent remarks of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat that people of India have had the same DNA for the past 40,000 years, Akhilesh said that till now everyone believed that the fight for social justice was 5,000 years’ old, but the BJP and RSS have asserted that it dates back to 40,000 years.
