Girl, 8, killed after being hit by bus in Barabanki | Lucknow News
Lucknow: An 8-year-old girl died after being hit by a speeding bus on the Lucknow-Ayodhya National Highway near Kotwa Road in Ramsanehighat, Barabanki, on Friday, police said.The victim, identified as Aastha of Mirzapur village of Barbanki, was travelling with her mother to her maternal grandparent’s home in Masoodpur village of Dariyabad area when the accident took place. According to police, as the mother and daughter were crossing the highway, a speeding unidentified bus coming from the Lucknow side hit Aastha. The child was flung several feet away by the impact and sustained critical injuries. The bus driver fled the scene immediately. Passersby rushed the severely injured girl to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ramsanehighat, where doctors declared her brought dead. Police arrived at the spot soon after receiving information and sent the body for postmortem. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the absconding driver.
