Expatriates suggest ideas for UP future | Lucknow News
Lucknow: To gather feedback for its Viksit Uttar Pradesh-2047 programme, the planning department, in collaboration with the UP Diaspora Forum (UPDF) international chapter, organised an online meeting with persons of UP origin on Tuesday. Participants from around the world, including the UK, UAE, Netherlands, US and Sweden, took part in the meeting. Expatriates from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, Telangana and Assam in India also joined the meeting, conducted by principal secretary, planning, Alok Kumar, secretary, planning, Selva Kumari and UPDF president Pankaj Jaiswal.President of the UK chapter Ajay Singh said that UPDF has planned to organise UP campaign events in various UK cities.Suggestions were made for holding international sports tournaments in UP to attract global investors. Participants from the US spoke about the need for investment facilitation and export promotion.From the Mumbai chapter, Pankaj Jaiswal, Akhand Singh and Ashok Tiwari proposed that a Viksit UP-2047 campaign event should be organised in Mumbai and Silvassa to connect with the large expatriate community. Several suggestions were received from participants from Japan, UK, US, UAE, Netherlands, Kenya and Sweden. UPDF president said that this was the first time that a chief minister reached out to the expatriate community for such a matter.Alok Kumar and Selva Kumari spoke in detail about objectives of the Viksit UP-2047 initiative. “This meeting primarily served as a presentation for expatriates so that they would be able to spread the message of this programme among their community,” said a govt spokesperson.Soon, regional meetings will be organised to gather suggestions from expatriates.
