LUCKNOW: In a daring daylight theft, a man posing as a customer stole a pair of gold earrings from a jewellery shop in the Thakurganj area on Wednesday.The incident took place at the shop owned by Manoj Verma, located near the TV Hospital in Nivazganj, around 4 pm. A young man entered the shop on foot and asked to see some gold earrings. Verma displayed several pairs, but the man suddenly snatched one pair and fled.Verma raised an alarm and tried to chase him but failed to catch the thief. The stolen earrings are estimated to be worth about Rs 50,000.Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vishwajeet Srivastava said a theft case has been registered on the jeweller’s complaint. The incident was captured on CCTV, and police are analysing the footage to identify the suspect.Police have appealed to the public to share any information that could help in tracing the thief. The incident has caused concern among local shopkeepers, who are now taking extra precautions.Authorities remain hopeful that CCTV footage will lead to a breakthrough in the case.
