Ghaziabad: A 24-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly injuring three labourers after running his car over them in Kavi Nagar Ramlila ground in the early hours of Saturday.Police said the accused, Ishan Singh, is a resident of Delhi and a first-year MTech student at Gautam Budh Nagar University. Following the incident, a complaint was filed by Ajay Jain, vice-president of the Ramlila Committee.According to the complaint, the accused drove an i20 car into the ground at high speed around 3.30am, while shopkeepers were asleep after shutting their stalls. Committee members raised an alarm, but the driver allegedly ignored them, eventually hitting three men — Madan Gopal alias Pintu, Vivek, and Hiresh Kumar — who were sleeping outside their shops.Eyewitnesses told police the driver was drunk. While fleeing, he rammed into gate number two and later crashed into the E-block gate, damaging both. He then sped away despite attempts by locals to stop him.ACP (Kavi Nagar) Suryabali Maurya said the car was tracked through CCTV footage, following which Singh was arrested and the vehicle seized. During questioning, he said he had come to the ground with friends to watch the Ramlila performance. An FIR has been registered in the case at Kavi Nagar police station.
