BCCI ombudsman junks complaints against UPCA, Rajeev Shukla | Lucknow News

Lucknow: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ombudsman, Justice Arun Kumar Mishra (retd.), former judge, Supreme Court of India, has dismissed two separate complaints filed against the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and its representative Rajeev Shukla, reaffirming the Association’s compliance with BCCI’s constitutional framework and eligibility norms. The first complaint, filed by Pradeep Singh on September 2, 2025, alleged violation of the cooling-off provisions under the BCCI Constitution and sought disqualification of Rajeev Shukla from holding office and participating in elections. After examining the detailed records, the Ombudsman held that Rajeev Shukla had resigned from his position as Hon. Secretary of UPCA in August 2016 and completed the mandatory three-year cooling-off period by June 2020, in full compliance with Rule 6(4) of the BCCI Constitution. In the second complaint filed by Ankesh Vashishtha on September 18, he sought interim suspension of UPCA and appointment of an ad-hoc committee, citing a high court directive. However, the Ombudsman, in his order dated September 25 held that the Allahabad HC order of Aug 19 merely directed the UP govt principal secretary (sports) to examine certain grievances and did not pass any adverse order against UPCA. No interim suspension or appointment of an ad-hoc administrator is warranted, as the HC has not directed any such measure, the Ombudsman said.
