Encroachments clear as LMC, cops crack whip | Lucknow News
Lucknow: In a move to alleviate persistent traffic congestion and enhance civic order, Lucknow Police, in coordination with Lucknow Municipal Corporation, conducted an unprecedented city-wide anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday. The extensive operation covered 44 identified areas across the city, aiming to free public spaces from illegal obstructions.Joint commissioner of police (law & order), Babloo Kumar, said this is the first time such a large-scale, coordinated anti-encroachment operation was carried out across the city, following which, police personnel were directed to ensure the cleared areas remained encroachment-free.The specific drive focused on a 1 to 1.5 km stretch in Naka area, extending from Charbagh bus stand through Nattha tiraha to Gupta tiraha. The stretch is notorious for traffic disruptions because of temporary encroachments by local shopkeepers and auto-tempo drivers.“The operation involved use of trucks and cranes to remove temporary structures such as pushcarts, tarpaulins extended onto roads, goods kept outside shops, display boards and iron ladders. Irregularly parked vehicles obstructing traffic were towed away with cranes. The entire operation in Naka area was conducted peacefully and in an organised manner, with the primary objective of facilitating smooth public movement,” said Vishwajeet Srivastava, DCP West Zone.Likewise, similar encroachments were removed in Hazratganj, Vibhutikhand, Chinhat and Gudumba areas. Other places included encroachments at Ahimamau Shaheed Path underpass, Telibagh, Utrahtia Shaheed Path underpass, Kallipaschim Bazar, Kisan Path, and PGI Gate, Phoenix Mall Chauraha to SKD Chauraha and further to Allen Chauraha. Encroachments were cleared at registry offices in Bijnor, Natkur and Aurangabad.
