Woman, daughter steal the limelight with wildlife clicks | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Mother-daughter duo, Poonam Nayaka and Tanishi, stole the spotlight at the National Photography Exhibition 2025 by The Youth Photography Association (TYPA) at Kala Sroth Art Gallery. Their work, displayed next to each other’s in the Wildlife section, showed creativity across generations. For Poonam, wildlife photography grew out of cherished family moments. She began clicking pictures of her daughter (now 18) or, while accompanying her husband, Sanjeeva Nayaka, principal scientist at NBRI and an avid birdwatcher, on early Sunday morning trips to Kukrail.“My husband got me interested in birds and gradually, I got into wildlife photography,” said Poonam, adding, “Wildlife photography teaches you humility, to wait, observe, till nature rewards you with a perfect moment.” Her frames, marked by patience and sensitivity, captured the fleeting movement of animals and their natural habitats and the moments resonated with viewers. For 8-year-old Tanishi, fascination for nature grew when a bulbul built a nest in their home. The daily wonder of watching the bird and its activities nurtured her curiosity and by 11 she had picked up the camera, waking at dawn to capture moments of nature and share them with her mother. “From using a small digital camera to now exploring advanced techniques, wildlife photography has taught her discipline and patience too,” said Poonam.Blending her passion for product designing with wildlife photography, Tanishi creates frames that unite aesthetics with storytelling. Her pictures of dawn-lit series dew-kissed leaves, birds in flight and sunrays piercing through mist earned admiration for their freshness and emotional depth.
