Two arrested for murder of madrassa teacher

Lucknow: Rae Bareli police on Monday arrested two men accused of killing a 45-year-old madrassa teacher in Dih police station area of Rae Bareli on Dec 12.Police said that Murtaza was murdered by his rivals Mohammad Ayyub, Jabbar, Mohammad Murtaza, Mohammad Naim, and Mohammad Zuber alias Babbu, all residents of Uttari Pathakpur village in Rae Bareli.The postmortem report said injuries inflicted by hard and blunt objects led to his death.Based on a written complaint by Abdul Hafeez, the cousin of the deceased, an FIR was lodged at Dih police station under Section 103(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Acting on the directions of superintendent of police Dr Yashveer Singh, and under the supervision of ASP Sanjeev Kumar Sinha and circle officer, Maharajganj, Yadavendra Bahadur, Dih police arrested two named accused — Abdul Jabbar and Rafiq Ahmed — on Monday.Both the accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.On Dec 12, Murtaza was returning on a motorcycle with his daughter Ishrat Jahan when the accused allegedly tracked his movement and intercepted him near a canal embankment. The attackers initially opened fire with the intention to kill him, but the bullet missed the target. Murtaza’s motorcycle fell, and he attempted to flee with his daughter.Police said the accused then chased him and assaulted him repeatedly with a hammer and bricks, killing him on the spot.
