Airport set to get modern navigation facility

Lucknow: To meet the growing demands of air traffic at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, authorities have begun construction of a new building to house advanced navigational aids for seamless aircraft movement. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday, led by Darshan Singh, chief airport officer, Lucknow International Airport Limited (LIAL), and Anwar Ahmad Ansari, Joint GM (communication navigation surveillance), Airports Authority of India. The facility will accommodate South Korean-made Doppler very high frequency omnidirectional range (DVOR) and High-power distance measuring equipment (HPDME). DVOR helps aircraft determine precise bearing (direction) using Doppler-based radio signals, while HPDME transmits high-power pulses to measure slant-range distance, ensuring accurate en-route navigation.
