City woman grabs silver medal at powerlifting meet in Turkiye | Lucknow News



Lucknow: Nutritionist Shikha Singh (46), a mother of two children, recently represented India in the Asian Classic Masters Powerlifting championship in Istanbul, Turkiye and won a silver medal.After completing her MBA from a private management college in Lucknow, she dedicated herself to powerlifting. The Asian Classic Masters Powerlifting Championship in Istanbul was organised by the Asian Powerlifting Federation (APF), the continental governing body, with local hosting by Turkish powerlifting entities, bringing together athletes from across Asia for the event. “I was always a sports person throughout my school and college days, but after marriage and kids I couldn’t pursue any physical sport, so I started going to the gym and lifting weights to stay healthy and fit. I started giving online trainings and nutrition plans after my completion of international courses in 2020,” said Shikha She said in 2023, at the age of 44 years, I was introduced to powerlifting and since then I started competing and winning. I play in the Masters 1 under 63kgs category. Made the deadlift national record in 2024. This year in 2025 I have not only won the National Championship but also represented India in the Asian Classic Masters Powerlifting championship held in Istanbul, Turkiye and won a silver medal recently.
