Lucknow: Dismissed constable Alok Singh and Amit Tamta, involved in the cough syrup scandal, were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday.After the hearing, the court extended their judicial remand and sent them to jail till Dec 22.Earlier, the accused were brought from jail to the court, where several lawyers arrived upon hearing the news of their arrival and raised slogans against them, necessitating the deployment of a large police force. The two accused were not removed from the prison van until sufficient police force arrived.Later, the accused were presented in court. The prosecution said that in this multi-crore cough syrup case, the Special Task Force (STF) arrested Amit Kumar Singh alias Amit Tamta on Nov 27 for smuggling Phensedyl cough syrup containing codeine and recovered two mobile phones, a Fortuner car and an Aadhaar card. Accused Amit Tamta is accused of conspiring with a syndicate to distribute the narcotic syrup worth Rs 100 crore in various parts of the country, including Lucknow.
