Physiatrists trained in high-res nerve scanning at PGI | Lucknow News
Lucknow: As many as 40 physiatrists underwent hands-on training in high-resolution nerve scanning and imaging-guided procedures at a state-level workshop on musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound held at SGPGIMS on Friday. This event highlighted how the technology was transforming early diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment in rehabilitation care.The day-long pre-conference workshop on MSK Ultrasound of Peripheral Nerves was organised at the Apex Trauma Center of SGPGIMS under the aegis of Awadh Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPMR), the UP chapter of the national body.Inaugurating the programme, SGPGIMS director R K Dhiman said innovations like MSK ultrasound were making it easier for physiatrists to diagnose nerve injuries faster and more accurately. “Such workshops strengthen the future of rehabilitation care in our state,” he said.Prof Arun Srivastava, in charge of Apex Trauma Centre, and Prof V S Gogia, head of PMR at Dr RMLIMS, were among dignitaries present.Workshop convener Dr Siddharth Rai, additional professor in department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at SGPGIMS, said peripheral nerve ultrasound had become indispensable for precise diagnosis and minimally invasive interventions. “Empowering young physiatrists with these advanced skills will directly improve patient care across trauma and rehabilitation settings,” he said.Dr Kanchan Sharma from Jaipur and Dr Harleen Uppal from sports injury centre, New Delhi served as resource faculty, while other senior specialists highlighted the expanding role of imaging-guided therapies in modern physiatry.The programme, which combined lectures with intensive hands-on sessions, drew widespread appreciation and is expected to significantly strengthen interventional rehabilitation services across UP.
