Lucknow: Lucknow police on Tuesday arrested a 31-year-old woman accused of running a drug trafficking ring from a high-rise apartment in Vrindavan Yojana.Lalita, who allegedly controlled a ganja distribution network with teenage boys as her foot-soldiers, was arrested along with two of her young aides, aged 18 & 19. The arrests were made after a tip-off that the trio was preparing to step out for a delivery from Govardhan Enclave around 5pm. A joint team of PGI Police and the South Zone Surveillance Unit intercepted them near the apartment gate, leading to a swift operation that exposed the gang’s activities.In the search conducted at Lalita’s apartment, police found 3kg of high-grade ganja, three digital weighing scales, and Rs 1,42,200 in cash, believed to be proceeds from ongoing sales.Police also found a large trunk inside her bedroom packed with heat-sealed plastic pouches — the packaging method typically used for retail distribution across neighbourhoods. Additional DCP (South) Vasanth Rallapalli said the setup bore the “signature of a structured micro-cartel” not a casual peddler. “Lalita appears to have modelled herself as a controller of a local narcotics chain, deploying teenagers for deliveries to reduce personal risk,” he said. Police said more arrests are likely as they trace her supply chain.
