Serial violators will lose licence and vehicle registration

Lucknow:The city’s integrated traffic management system has thrown up an alarming pattern of repeated traffic violations, with some two-wheeler riders amassing over 100 challans in under a year. Traffic police have confirmed that cancellation of vehicle registrations and suspension of driving licences is now on the cards.“Top offenders have crossed the 100-mark, showing fines are no longer a deterrent,” said DCP traffic Kamlesh Dixit. “We are moving towards stronger measures — suspending licences, cancelling registrations and seizing vehicles.”Offences include signal jumping, overspeeding, helmetless riding, entering no-entry zones and lane violations, posing serious risk to public safety.Over 13,000 vehicles in Lucknow — two-wheelers and four-wheelers — have more than five challans each, making them liable for strict action.Special enforcement drives, targeted checks, and awareness campaigns are planned.
