Dharti Aaba play highlights Birsa Munda legacy

Lucknow: Play Dharti Aaba based on the life of Birsa Munda left a memorable impression on the minds of the audience about the young tribal hero who stood up for his people and their rights. The play, directed by Gyaneshwar Mishra (Gyani), was staged at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow on the fifth day of the Janjatiya Bhaagidari Utsav. It opened with a calm scene where tribals sat together, speaking about their fear of losing their forests and land. The lighting was soft, and the silence in the hall made the moment powerful. When a young Birsa walked onto the stage holding a wooden branch, it immediately caught everyone’s attention. It felt like the symbol of strength, nature and identity. Each scene showed how Birsa grew from a simple child into a strong leader who encouraged his people to stay united and courageous. The play ended with Birsa’s arrest and sacrifice at the age of 25.
