Over 11L tribals offered edu,housing, healthcare facilities

Lucknow: To uplift tribal communities, the state govt has launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan and Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, reaching 517 tribal-dominated villages across 26 districts. Thes e are part of 150th birth anniversary celebrations of tribal icon Birsa Munda.A govt spokesperson said that these areas are now fully saturated by welfare schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala, Jan Dhan, Kisan Samman Nidhi and PM Vishwakarma Yojana.“Among beneficiaries are tribes like Tharu, Buksa and Bhotia. Govt has empowered over 11 lakh people with housing, education, healthcare, electricity and drinking water through initiatives like PM Janman and the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. In a landmark achievement, 815 Buksa families in forest areas now have complete access to essential amenities,” said the spokesperson.To preserve tribal cultural heritage, govt established the Tharu Handicraft Company in Lakhimpur Kheri, linking 371 self-help groups with national markets through revolving and community investment funds. A Tharu Museum has been inaugurated in Balrampur, with similar projects underway in Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Maharajganj, the official added.Eklavya Model Schools, Sarvodaya Hostels and Ashram Vidyalayas are nurturing a new generation of confident tribal youth. Schools in Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Sonbhadra, and Lalitpur are providing holistic education to children from remote regions, strengthening the base for inclusive progress.Under the Pre-Examination Training Centre Scheme, over 700 Scheduled Tribe candidates have been selected for administrative roles, while 6,500 youth are being trained across eight high-level centres.Govt has extended these schemes to nomadic tribes as well, such as the Nat, Banjara, Sansi, Kanjar and Kalbelia. With 101 Ashram Vidyalayas, nine Sarvodaya Schools, and multiple hostels, these communities are getting access to education, housing and social security.“From restoring dignity and identity to ensuring access to all govt benefits, the Yogi Adityanath govt has ushered in a new era of tribal empowerment, one that combines cultural pride with sustainable progress,” the official said.
