Farmer killed as speeding car hits bike

Lucknow: A farmer, out along with his son to distribute wedding invitation cards, died in a road accident in Itaunja, late Wednesday evening. The son got seriously injured too. According to police, Parshuram Yadav, 60, resident of Munnu Purwa village in Itaunja, was returning home with his son Raju after handing out invitation cards for his daughter Roli’s wedding, scheduled for Nov 25, when a speeding car hit their motorcycle from behind near Manpur Mandi. “Both father and son suffered serious injuries and were taken to Ram Sagar Mishra Combined Hospital, where Parshuram succumbed during treatment. Raju remains hospitalised,” said Markandey Yadav. Police said the car coming from Sitapur, hit two more people in nearby villages before the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. “We were decorating house for celebrations when news arrived of Parshuram’s death in accident,” said a relative of the deceased.Parshuram is survived by six children, youngest of whom is Roli.
