FIR after ‘lawyer’ steals order copy from court

Lucknow: A man posing as a lawyer allegedly stole a case order copy from the court of the ACJM-VII within the Wazirganj court complex.According to the FIR lodged at the Wazirganj police station, clerk Kamlesh Kumar, posted in Court No. 31 of the ACJM-VII, alleged that the incident occurred on Nov 11, when he brought the case file of HDFC Bank vs BL Verma, filed under Section 14 of the SARFAESI Act, to the presiding officer’s chamber to prepare a report. While preparing the report, Kamlesh momentarily left the chamber to fetch other documents. On returning, he noticed a man dressed in a lawyer’s attire hurriedly removing some papers from the case file. Upon checking the file, Kamlesh found that the certified order copy of the case was missing. He immediately informed the presiding officer, after which a preliminary internal inquiry was conducted and a formal complaint was filed with the police.SHO Wazirganj Rajesh Tripathi confirmed that an FIR has been registered and the accused has been identified through CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts. “The man impersonating a lawyer is being traced. Further verification and questioning are underway,” Tripathi said.
