‘Devotion, chants give temples their vibe’ | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A temple was not mere stone structure, but a consciousness that never died, said Vipul Varshney, architect and conservationist, during an interactive session with Iskcon vice president Deendayal Krishna Prabhudas at the launch of her book on temples of Awadh, on Wednesday.“Temples are born out of devotion, preserved through faith and sustained by spiritual vibrations of countless prayers,” said Varshney, reflecting on the sacred essence of temple culture in India. The session delved into spiritual, architectural and cultural significance of temples, exploring how they embody divine energy beyond physical form. Varshney emphasised that temples were living spaces of faith and devotion, where architecture became a medium for consciousness to manifest.“Vibrations within temple walls are created not by carvings, but by centuries of devotion and chanting. Temples unite communities, that is why there are so many temple towns in India such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Udupi, Dwarka and Kanchipuram,” said Deendayal Krishna Prabhudas, praising Varshney’s work on reviving awareness of Awadh’s sacred geography and its timeless connection with the Ramayan and Mahabharat. He noted that rediscovering the spiritual centers helped modern society reconnect with its cultural and moral roots.
