Man kills self after shooting at woman | Lucknow News
Jhansi: In a chilling incident, a 25-year-old man shot at a 20-year-old woman before killing himself in broad daylight near Bundelkhand University, just few metres away from the university police outpost on Sunday afternoon. Both of them were rushed to the Jhansi Medical College by a passerby. While the man was declared dead by the doctors, the woman is said to be out of danger. According to the police, Kritika Chaubey, 20, is a first-year student of MBA Business and Insurance. She hails from Lalitpur and was living in a girls’ PG hostel inside the campus. The deceased, Manish Sahu (25), also belonged to Lalitpur.He came to meet Kritika, and both were seen walking on the footpath. According to bystanders, Manish suddenly took out a country-made gun, which he brought with him, and shot Kritika in the chest. Moments later, he shot himself in the forehead with the same gun.Both collapsed on the footpath, lying motionless in a pool of blood. Meanwhile, a good Samaritan identified as Pawan, who was passing by, took both of them to the medical college in an auto-rickshaw.Upong being alerted, senior police officials, including Jhansi SSP BBGTS Murthy, rushed to the shooting site and the medical college. Murthy said that family members of both the individuals have been informed and will be arriving soon. “Meanwhile, we have sent Manish’s body for postmortem and have recovered the weapon used in the shooting,” he added.The reason behind the crime is being investigated.Sources revealed that the duo belonged to the Talabpura area of Lalitpur and knew each other from before. Manish worked as a freelance driver.
