Lucknow: In a record time of one year, seven months and 25 days, a Lucknow court sentenced a man to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting and murdering a 5-year-old boy. Additional district and sessions judge (Pocso) Mohammed Qamruzzama Khan also imposed a fine of Rs 85,000 on the convict, Amarjeet Nishad.The case dates to March 13, 2024, when a resident of Deoria Khurd Laulai reported his five-year-old son missing from the Chinhat area. The investigation revealed that Nishad alias Bhajju lured the child to a riverside location where he committed the crime. When the child resisted, Amarjeet murdered him and disposed of the body in the river, the police said.Chinhat inspector Dinesh Chandra Mishra registered the case and completed the investigation within 47 days.”A chargesheet was filed in record time and a watertight case was made with reports of the FSL and from the forensic, demonstrating the efficiency and dedication of the law enforcement agencies involved. The effective advocacy by the prosecution played a crucial role in securing the conviction of the accused,” said DCP, East Zone, Shashank Singh.
