Man kills wife with help from aides; Five arrested

Lucknow: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband and his associates over property and family disputes.A joint team of the Surveillance Unit (DCP North) and Mal Police Station arrested five accused, solving the murder of victim Pooja Devi, whose body was found in a mango orchard in village Bashari on Nov 3. The victim was identified by her daughter Suman from her clothes, footwear, and photographs. Following the identification, an FIR under Sections 103(1), 238 BNS was registered against the primary accused, Raju Gupta, at Mal Police Station. “Frequent domestic disputes over money and Pooja’s objection to her husband meeting his children from his first marriage escalated tensions. Pooja also demanded her share from approximately Rs 10 lakh received after the sale of a plot that Raju purchased in her name,” said DCP North Gopal Krishna Choudhary. “This demand, combined with ongoing quarrels, allegedly led him to plan her murder,” he added. The DCP further explained that under pressure and fed up with daily quarrels, Raju confided in his acquaintance Anees. Anees then involved three others: Shakeel, Rajesh, and Sarvesh, and together they conspired to eliminate Pooja Devi. “On Oct 31 , as per the plan, the accused lured Pooja Devi to a mango orchard in Bashari, Madwana area. There, she was strangled to death, her body hidden in nearby bushes, and the accused fled the scene,” said Nawab Ahmed, SHO, Mal.
