Jewellery worth 15 lakh of NBRI scientist’s wife stolen from train | Lucknow News
Lucknow: The wife of a senior scientist from the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) was allegedly robbed of gold jewellery worth around Rs 15 lakh while travelling in the first AC coach of the Rapti Sagar Express, police said on Monday.Station in-charge Dharmveer Singh confirmed that an FIR was registered. “GRP officials are now scanning CCTV footage from nearby stations and examining the passenger list from the coach,” he added. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday when Manish Bhoyar, a senior scientist at CSIR-NBRI, and his wife Bhagyashree were returning to Lucknow after Diwali holidays. Dr Bhoyar, a native of Wardha district, Maharashtra, lives with his family in CSIR Colony, Nirala Nagar, Lucknow. According to the complaint, the couple boarded the Rapti Sagar Express (12512) from Hinganghat railway station in Maharashtra on Oct 28. They were travelling in the first AC coach on berths E-13 and E-14. Around 4:30am, when the train halted at Jhansi station, everything appeared normal. A short while later, after the train crossed Uri station, Bhagyashree realised that her handbag was missing. After reaching Lucknow Charbagh railway station, Bhoyar lodged a complaint at the Charbagh GRP police station. tnn
