‘Birthday boy’, others booked after celebratory gunshots video goes viral | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Police have booked one Abhishek Singh and a few unidentified men after a video showing celebratory gunfire during a birthday party in the Madiaon area of the city went viral on social media, officials said on Sunday.According to police, the incident took place on the night of Oct 27 at Bharat Lawn near IIM-Lucknow, where nearly 200 people gathered to celebrate the birthday of Abhishek Singh. In the 13-second video, several guests are seen dancing to loud music while some men brandish pistols and fire shots in the air. A few men can also be seen holding a large framed photograph of the birthday host. The video, circulated widely on Saturday, prompted the police to initiate an inquiry. “The firing caused panic in the lawn and nearby area,” said Bhupendra Singh, in charge of Ajeetnagar police outpost, in his complaint. tnnPolice said they are investigating whether the weapons used were licensed or illegal. Abhishek Singh is a resident of Q-sector, Aliganj, and has multiple criminal cases registered against him for serious offences.“He has gone into hiding and his mobile phone remains switched off,” said inspector Shivanand Mishra, station house officer of Madiaon police station.
