Calibration flight touches down at Noida Int’l Airport

Lucknow: The Noida International Airport at Jewar witnessed a landmark moment on Friday as its first calibration flight successfully touched down, signalling the final phase before the airport becomes operational. This crucial flight tested the accuracy of navigation and communication systems, ensuring world-class safety standards for future operations. A calibration flight is a specialized test operation designed to ensure that the airport’s Instrument Landing System (ILS), radar, and air navigation equipment function in accordance with international safety standards. During the exercise, specially equipped aircraft fly at varying altitudes and angles to assess the strength, stability, and precision of signals transmitted by ground systems. The process involves flight inspectors, technical engineers, and air traffic control (ATC) specialists working in coordination. AAI’s calibration aircraft are fitted with advanced measurement instruments that capture real-time data during the flight. This data is meticulously analyzed to identify and correct any technical deviations, ensuring the highest level of system accuracy. The successful completion of the calibration flight marks a major step forward for Jewar Airport, bringing it closer to meeting international aviation safety standards and expediting the process of securing operational clearance. Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, who was present to mark the occasion, called it a historic achievement for Uttar Pradesh’s economic growth. He emphasized that the airport will transform lives by boosting connectivity and creating opportunities for common citizens. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his recent inspection, described the airport as a symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s strength and aspirations. He stressed that quality, timeliness, and coordination in its construction will set a benchmark for the entire nation. “Ensuring high standards in every activity remains our top priority,” the CM had said. Meanwhile, MLA Dhirendra Singh highlighted that years of hard work, farmer cooperation, and administrative determination have turned this dream into reality. The successful calibration flight confirms that construction is in its final stage, and commercial flights will commence soon. Officials from the airport management, engineering teams, and Yamuna Authority were also present during the event. Now, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation will conduct final inspection before granting operational clearance. “Jewar Airport is expected to energize industrial growth, tourism, education, and employment across western Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions, making it a transformative hub for progress,” said MLA Dhirendra Singh.
