Lucknow: Members of Kayastha community in Lucknow celebrated ‘Yam Dwitiya’ with traditional fervour on Thursday, honouring their principal deity, Lord Chitragupt, with a special ‘kalam dawat’ (pen and ink-pot) and ‘shastra’ (weapon) pujan.The collective ceremony, organised by Kayastha Foundation Trust at Shri Chitragupt Dham, Jhoolelal Vatika, was marked by devotion and a call for community solidarity. A grand offering of ‘Chhappan Bhog’ (56 dishes) was presented to the heavily adorned deity, followed by prayers for human welfare. Attendees also listened to Shri Chitragupt Katha.Programme convener advocate Dilip Srivastava highlighted the day’s significance, noting the Kayastha community traditionally reopens its accounts and resumes writing after symbolically closing its work for Diwali. He said participants also prayed for unity and increasing political participation of the community, asserting that their “neglect in political sphere will no longer be tolerated.”Following the ceremony, pens were distributed as ‘prasad,’ and a majestic ‘aarti’ (ritual of light) was performed for Gomti river at Shri Chitragupt Ghat. Several prominent members of the trust, including president Rajeev Srivastava Raja and general secretary Manoj Dingar, were present.
