BJP’s caste-based postings destroyed governance: SP chief | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Accusing the BJP govt of indulging in hate politics, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said rampant caste-based postings in state have crippled the law and machinery to the extent that even ‘fake encounters’ have failed to reign in the criminals.“People were being deprived of justice in the state as the BJP’s focus was only on posting officers of select caste at high positions. The BJP’s focus is not on governance, so there is no governance happening. It was time for the BJP to be replaced, and people in the state were ready to do that in the 2027 assembly elections,” Akhilesh said while addressing party functionaries at the SP headquarters in Lucknow. He said not only crime is at its peak, law and order is in shambles, health care system on the brink of collapse and education paraphernalia non-functional. “Things have not been this worse ever in the past. Now that the BJP has failed miserably at the governance front, it is resorting to politics of hate to apply the divide and rule policy. So, people in general and PDA in particular need to be alert of these nefarious designs of BJP,” Akhilesh said. He added that: “There are no doctors in govt hospitals. Healthcare infrastructure is in a state where people don’t get stretchers and beds and are often forced to carry their dead ones on two-wheelers and carts. The govt has closed thousands of schools. The focus was on opening new liquor shops. Fake encounters have failed to deter the criminals from striking at will. There is an understanding between the administration and the criminals in UP,” the former UP CM said. HE added that “Now, that BJP govt is set to complete its tenure, the party is talking about cleaning the Gomti river. What did the BJP do all these years? Why hasn’t the Gomti been cleaned in the past 8 years? For the poor state of rivers including Gomti, the chief minister himself is responsible. In the SP government, Gomti Riverfront came up with the idea of keeping the Gomti clean. A major stretch of the river in Lucknow was provided with concrete walls on both sides to seal unauthorised drains from opening directly into the river. But after the BJP govt was formed, the project was abandoned.” Akhilesh’ jibe comes days after the CM announced ‘Gomti Revival Mission’ to realise the vision of a clean and uninterrupted river.
